Mission Critical Announcement!🚨 Our Help Desk hours have changed to ensure that we have adequate staff to support you! The help desk has been part of our shop since we opened in 2009 and is an integral part of our education program and a free service to our local fibre community. At the help desk, we provide (free) 10-15 minutes of assistance to get you back on track with a project, pick up a dropped stitch, figure out a chart, or fix something else that has gone wrong. Keep in mind that this is provided by our yarnistas, who are also assisting customers in the store, so your helper will move back and forth between the register and the help desk. If you require more time or dedicated assistance with your project, our Independent Studies, held multiple times a week, will give you more time and attention from our talented and experienced instructors (and are just $30 for the two-hour class period). Our help desk will now be open Monday-Wednesday, Friday-Saturday 11 am - 5:30 pm, Thursday, 11 am - 7 pm, and Sunday, 12:30-5:30 pm.
Let’s check in with the Yarnistas and see what everyone is stitching up this week!
We are SO excited to once again stock Seeknit Bamboo needles! Our love for these bamboo needles stretches way back to Danielle’s Knit-a-gogo days. She loved their quality and sold them to her very first students before even opening fibre space. Our first delivery was their gorgeous interchangeable sets, which have been upgraded to stainless steel joins on the high quality bamboo this brand is known for. We will be stocking the entire line of circular, dpns and straights by fall!
Freshly restocked before any more potential tariff shenanigans, Knitting for Olive Pure Silk, Soft Silk Mohair, and Merino Fingering are here! With potential tariffs looming again for the EU, this restock could not have better timing. Grab your skeins in space or online in our capsule collection, as this one is fully available online as well.

Today we`re celebrating the 116th birthday of Elizabeth Zimmermann, one of the first true knitting celebrities. When visiting space, you might have noticed a little placard we keep at the front desk:
“Knit on with confidence and hope through all crises.”
It’s a phrase we have held dear in the last several years—there’s been a lot going on in the world, and sometimes all we can do is stitch on with hope. It’s a reminder to all of us that when faced with all the terrible things in the world, dropped stitches included, that we should continue with confidence.
We don’t always think about the woman who gave us those words. She gave us so much that we take for granted in knitting today. Did you know that “i-cord,” the beautiful clean edge to so many shawls and cowls stands for “idiot-cord”? This simple tube was popularized and celebrated by one woman. Remember when we were all wearing infinity scarves? Or have you ever grafted your own mobius cowl? You can thank our star of the month, and the mother of modern knitting- Elizabeth Zimmermann. Check out the Captain`s Log to learn more about this icon and the mother of modern knitting.
