You’ve possibly just spent the last few weeks making gifts for the stitch worthy people in your life. Now it is time to spoil yourself with your first sweater project of 2022! We will gather on New Year’s day in our second floor lounge space to swatch for our first sweaters of 2022. Our team will do a demo on swatching in the round. This workshop is free but does require registration.
We will then prep for one of two sweaters that we will be making in January – an easy striped yoke sweater or a harder fair isle sweater:
Saturn – easy stiped yoke sweater
This Heidi Kirrmaier sweater is a great way to play with color, without doing fair isle on the yoke. It features four contrast stripes at the yoke and is knit from the top down, seamlessly. We have kits for the yoke stripes in Hudson & West Forge! This is a great project for newer sweater knitters or anyone who can knit, purl and work increases and decreases.
The pattern contains links to tutorials for working short rows and for working a provisional cast on. It is size inclusive and has instructions to modify length.

Star Crossed – Intermediate Fair Isle Sweater
This boxy sweater is worked in the round from the bottom up and has fair isle accents on the body and sleeves that are worked in Spincycle Dream State. This color changing yarn creates unique color work without using multiple strands. Our team is using Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino or Hudson & West Forge for the main body of this one! You could also use De Rerum Natura Gilliatt or Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok. With the amazing colors of Dream State, the options are endless.
