Welcome to another edition of Danielle’s Obsessions, where I share what’s hot right now in my queue (or on my shopping list!).
Recently I attended h+h americas, the annual craft industry trade show in Chicago, where we all go to connect with other fibre industry folks, see and sample lots of new yarns, and plan for Fall inventory. I wanted to share some highlights of my trip and let you know what you can look forward to seeing in the shop later this year!

First up is Baa Ram Ewe, a British company that works with farmers, spinners, and dyers across the UK to produce amazing wool yarns from British sheep breeds including Black Welsh Mountain, Bluefaced Leicester, Derbyshire Gritstone (yep, that’s actually a real sheep!), Hebridean, Jacob, Masham, North of England Mule (also an actual sheep), and Romney. (They’ve got gorgeous patterns for their yarns too!)
Coming soon: Donegal Twists, a gorgeous, tweedy DK weight 2-ply twist of woolen-spun Donegal Merino and worsted-spun British wool, and Mowool, a 2-ply fingering weight that’s worsted-spun from British wool, then brushed for a fluffy, mohair-like look.

Next up is a 145-year-old French yarn company that I’m super excited to bring in, Fonty, who run one of the last wool spinning and dyeing facilities still in operation in France. Don’t be fooled, though, these historic yarnmakers are thoroughly modern, because when I tell you they make machine-washable woolen-spun yarns?! (SO EXCITED.)
Coming soon: Cocache, a beautiful 7-ply fingering weight blend of cotton and cashmere that feels and drapes like silk, and Tartan 6, a 6-ply woolen-spun Aran-weight yarn in gorgeous semi-solid colors, created by blending dyed and natural white wool. Both of these amazing yarns are machine-washable!

You know them, you love them for their incredible hand-dyed colors—we’re thrilled to bring in Uruguay’s iconic yarnmakers Malabrigo! Spun from soft Uruguayan Merino wool, their yarns are sustainably produced in Peru (a place near and dear to my heart).
Coming soon: Arroyo, a soft and sturdy 4-ply sport/DK weight, and its big sibling, worsted-weight Rios. Both machine-washable, these gorgeous yarns are perfect for colorful baby knits and children’s wear.

From our favorite eco-friendly Portuguese yarnmakers Rosários 4, we’ve got some exciting new yarns coming in for Fall!
Coming soon: Meia Print, a speckly sock yarn spun from soft Merino wool with nylon added for strength, Odemira, an DK weight organic cotton in soft watercolor shades, and Amigomira, fun little assortments of colorful worsted weight cotton that are perfect for amigurumi and other small projects.
Stay tuned to find out when our new yarns arrive at the shop – we’ll have plenty of yarn info and pattern picks to share when they do!
