Just Landed: Down the Rabbit Hole with De Rerum Natura Alice

Located in Toulouse, France, De Rerum Natura was founded in 2012 by Solenn Couix-Loarer to create “reinvented country yarns” – soft enough for her children to wear, with the beauty of natural wool and a close connection to the sheep, the land, and the fibre growers and producers that bring the yarns to life. Named for a poem by the Roman philosopher Lucretius, De Rerum Natura’s mission is to forge a link between crafters and natural fibers, inviting us to explore the nature of things by working with “things of nature”: fine Mérinos d’Arles wool from France, black Merino wool from Portugal’s Alentejo Valley, linen sourced from France and Belgium, and other ethically sourced natural fibers, all spun and dyed in France and Italy.

De Rerum Natura yarns have become a staple at fibre space, and we’re so excited to add another of their bases to our lineup – meet Alice!

Inspired by the curious and kind-hearted heroine of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland novels, this enchanting yarn features fine organic Mérinos d’Arles wool from sheep raised in Provence, blended with specially selected linen grown in northern France and Belgium. Spun in Biella, Italy, into a round and supple 3-ply, the yarn is then dyed with eco-friendly GOTS-certified dyes to reduce environmental impact.

With lively spring and elasticity from the wool, along with a luminous heathered look and light, airy feel from the linen, this special yarn is ideal for projects from drapey, breathable sweaters and accessories to soft and sturdy socks.
