Olga’s Flyfly shawl pattern has dropped!

Olga’s Flyfly shawl pattern has dropped!

We are so excited about the newest design from local designer Olga Buraya-Kefelian! With the weather turning crisp it’s the perfect time to cast on a cozy shawl, and the stunning textured stitch is addictive to knit. Our team thinks this might be an amazing alternative to a #Rhinebecksweater for those who haven’t started one yet. The yarnistas have been busy making custom kits for this project! With gorgeous kits pairing Spincycle Dyed In the Wool and Wooldreamers Dehesa De Barrera, the toughest part will be just knitting one.  Each kit will come with a gift from us – our fibre girl pin!

MATERIALS (included in kits)

  • Spincycle Dyed In the Wool (100% American wool; 200 yards/100 g):  3 skeins
  • Wooldreamers Dehesa De Barrera (100% Spanish Merino wool; 448 yards/100 g):  3 skeins
  • fibre girl enamel pin

Other materials needed (not included)

  • US 5 (3.75 mm) circular, 47-60”
  • US 6 (4 mm) needle (for I-cord BO only) OR use size to obtain gauge
  • Crochet hook size D (3.25 mm)
  • Small length of smooth waste yarn in similar weight
  • Cable needle (CN)(optional)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Copy of the Flyfly pattern by Olga Buraya-Kefelian

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
(flat, blocked)
Depth along the spine – approx. 21” / 53.5 cm
Wingspan – approx. 86½” / 219 cm

GAUGE

Check your gauge and adjust needle size accordingly if necessary
1 (20-st) repeat measures approx. 3” / 8 cm wide and
2 (10-row) repeats measure approx. 1½” / 3.5 cm tall worked in Main Stitch pattern on smaller size needle, measured once dry after washing and blocking

SKILLS NEEDED

This is a beginner intermediate project. Students need to be able to: CO, BO, knit, purl, slip stitches. The pattern also has video tutorials inside, including how to cable 2 sts without cable needle!
