Happy October! Here’s what’s been happening around the shop this week.
New Arrivals
A major shipment from Sweet Georgia landed this week. We’re thrilled to welcome a brand new yarn: Superwash Sport, which is a wonderfully soft and plush sport weight base packing 328 yards per skein. This shipment also included gradient kits to celebrate the company’s 10-year anniversary and a huge batch of fiber. Read more about this exciting delivery here.
We welcomed in a new line of gifts for knitters. Wool & Wire makes jewelry for knitters, which is pretty and practical! Learn more here.
Just in time for gift knitting and cooler weather inspiration: Interweave Knits Gifts, Knitscene, Winter 2015, and Home by Pam Allen.
We’re also restocked with Miss Babs Yowza and Kunlun as well as all the colors of Woolfolk. Stop by the shop and get inspired!
Events
In addition to the classes we’ve got listed below, there are fantastic workshops on their way. Expand your color-knitting skills this weekend and learn to knit two-color patterns using slipped-stitch techniques. You can create complex patterns and textures using only one color per round! Mosaic Knitting Workshop with Ann Weaver is coming up Sunday, October 4 at 1 pm. Click here to learn more and register.
The popular Brioche and Beyond with Olga Buraya-Kefelian returns on Monday, October 12 at 6 pm. Grab your spot before the workshop fills up! Click here to learn more and register.
We’ve got great trunk shows in the shop at the moment. The Midwestern Knits Trunk Show is a 13 pattern collection, curated and edited by knitwear designers Carina Spencer and Allyson Dykhuizen. Each pattern is inspired by our designers’ personal connections to the Heartland of America. Essays written by the designers accompany each design as a tribute to the inspiration.
We’ve also got a Brooklyn Tweed Classics Collection in the shop this coming week. As part of a celebration of American Craft Week (October 2 – 11), we will have some old and new favorites on hand from the American-sourced and produced brand.
Yoga and Yarn – a fundraiser for Project Knitwell is coming up on Saturday, October 10. Join us for an open and all-level accessible 60-minute yoga practice specifically designed for knitters’ posture, joint health and harmony at Pure Prana. Following the class, we join together here at our shop for refreshments from La Fromagerie, accessing skillful knit instruction or to knit bracelets for the local children’s hospital while socializing with the community. Knitting materials and project kits are available for purchase at the store.
