I am so delighted to have added an old friend back into our inventory for the fall season. Since we opened, we have been a proud stockist for Stonehedge Fiber Mill. This family run mill in East Jordan, Michigan is really helping to preserve the American textile industry. The company not only spins yarn right here in the US, they also have an entire line of mill equipment that they make and sell.
Stonehedge has a signature yarn line – Shepherd’s Wool. The yarn is made from a wonderfully soft Merino top that is spun right in Michigan by Deb (the owner) and her team.
We are adding a third yarn from Shepherd’s Wool to our inventory!
Shepherd’s Wool Fingering
The 3 ply fingering weight is spun to 2300 yards per pound, which in a 1.6 ounce skein is 230 yards per skein and $9. This yarn is worsted spun, so it is very smooth and almost shiny in appearance. It will give great stitch definition for intricate patterns such as lace, cables, and knit / purl patterns.
If you are looking for a non machine washable wool option in fingering weight, this might just do the trick! We have every color that it is available in, providing you with tons of options for colorwork accessories or amazing garments.
