Greetings from space! Here’s what was going on around the shop this week.
New Arrivals
We hosted the brand launch party for Woolfolk on Saturday! We had a blast with Olga Buraya-Kefelien, the designer of the FW2014 collection (thanks for hanging out with us Olga!) This pattern collection is fantastic, full of items that show off the softness and richness of the yarns. We have a limited quantity of the paper patterns on hand. The trunk show is available in space through the weekend, and we’re receiving another shipment from Woolfolk. Please stop by the shop or call us if you’d like to get an order in.
We brought back the sale bin this week! There are some great deals to be had on Ella Rae Mega, Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend, Zauberball Starke 6, and Jill Draper Makes Stuff Windham. Check us out on Instagram for more information. You never know what might make its way into the bin next.

What’s Hot
It’s the second week of the Fall Knitalong with Miss Babs! Three yarnistas and Danielle are all working on our sweaters, the Westbourne (Kinu Love) by Isabell Kraemer. Armed with Miss Babs Katahdins and our wits, we’re tackling this top-down raglan with a variety of color combinations and design/stripe plans. We’ve loved the German short row shaping at the top, and Danielle found an amazing tutorial here. You can read about our plans here, but we’re more excited to see what you do! Just a friendly reminder, if you finish your sweater by November 13, you’ll be entered to win free yarn. Read more here.
Did you know?
Now that it’s really starting to feel like fall, we’re turning our thoughts to getting ready for the cold. It’s almost sweater weather! Although there are many ways to make a sweater, one of the styles piquing our interest is the gansey. Traditionally worn by fishermen and other laborers around the English Isles, these jumpers sported designs that were handed down through the generations, sort of like a family crest on a sweater. Check out a collection of updated patterns in the Fall edition of Knitscene and read more about the design process. You can find this magazine and many others at fibre space. Happy stitching!
