For the first time ever, I am very happy to introduce CrochetScene, a new crochet magazine published by Interweave Crochet that uses traditional crochet techniques to create modern and trendy pieces. This special edition comes complete with some seriously adorable patterns for accessories, sweaters, and skirts. With 35 great projects, this magazine is a must-have for any crocheter. And for those just learning, it even comes with a handy guide intended to help even the newest of crocheters finish any the magazine’s beautiful projects.
Chain, Chain, Chain
For every crochet project, you always have to start with a good foundation – chain, that is. Well, the designers in CrochetScene have come up with a variety of ways to make the most basic of crochet stitches into something interesting and exciting. Personally, I’m all about a simple, lightweight shawl and I think the Fission Shawl might just fit the bill. Pick one of our more variegated hand-dyes like Dragonfly Fibers Dragon Sock or Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply to crochet up one of these beauties!
A Little Bit Lacy
This issue is full of lace in all shapes and forms, something that I was very excited to see. Personally, I’m completely in love with a crocheted lace top and the Swank Tank is pretty much adorable. It’d be gorgeous in a couple skeins of Imperial Stock Ranch Tracie Too or Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio Sport.
I love the Mango Infinity Cowl, a super fun bit of lace that features a ruching strip that turns a long cowl into a short, textured one. I’m thinking Hazel Knits Entice MCN would make for a super soft and luxurious accessory.
A Granny Square Revival
When I was learning how to crochet, what really got me hooked (pun intended!) were granny squares. They are just so much fun to make! Plus, they always remind me of my Grammy, whose many projects included several granny square blankets, pot holders, and even hanger covers. CrochetScene gives me the perfect opportunity to play with my favorite type of crochet, offering a whole feature on updated granny squares. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m really digging the idea of a granny square Delia Bag. Some of the fantastic colors in Rowan Pure Wool Worsted would be perfect!
I hear a lot of granny square vest stories around the shop, many describing a giant granny square for the front and back and straps to hold it up. Well, the Livvie Vest takes the idea of the crocheted granny square vest and updates it with stripes rather than classic squares. Try it in Berroco Weekend DK!
Keeping It Graphic
While CrochetScene does an excellent job updating classic shapes and designs, it also features it’s share of new and modern looks that are pretty fantastic too. I’ve got my eye on the Coldwave Sweater, which would be pretty amazing in Debbie Bliss Eco Baby or in Imperial Stock Ranch Tracie Too for a woolier option.
A geometric cowl is never a bad thing and the Riff Cowl would be great in 2 skeins of Hazel Knits Cadence.
These patterns are only a peek at all the pretty in CrochetScene Magazine. Pick up an issue today and get crocheting!
