October is here, the nights are starting to get chilly, and pumpkins are appearing around town! It’s time for fall projects!
Get started by joining us on Sunday in the lounge from noon to 4 PM for a fall-themed Charity Stitch in Space!
We’ll be knitting and crocheting seasonally-styled hats along with Project Knitwell for babies in area NICUs.
Be sure to select yarn that is washable and soft. (No wool or animal fibers or yarns with bits that shed.) We recommend Berroco Remix, Berroco Weekend, Rowan 4 ply, Berroco Weekend Chunky, Big Bamboo or Classic Elite Provence.
Choose a pattern that is fall / pumpkin / leaf / acorn themed. Please select a pattern that does not have pom-poms or tassels, as they shed fibers that are dangerous in an incubator environment. Even a simple seamed garter-stitch rectangle in fall colors will do! Check here for ideas, or check out these patterns:
Knit:
Pumpkin Patch Kid Hat – uses worsted weight yarn and US 6 dpns.
Punkin Head – uses worsted/aran weight and US 6 dpns.
Wee Leafy Baby Set – try Classic Elite Provence and US 4 dpns.
Crochet:
Free Pumpkin Baby Hat – uses worsted weight yarn and H & I hooks.
(Can’t make it on Sunday? We’ll be accepting hats until October 26.)
