The first shipment of the Rare Imports Club is here! There are spaces still available in this six month club, if you are interested OR you can purchase just this month’s package.
Rare Imports Month 1
We didn’t go far to find our first club package. I am so excited to be working with Sweet Fiber from Canada again! I asked for her most delicious yarn, and she suggested the Silk Cashmere Lace. It is a heavy-weight lace, with 400 yards per 50 gram skein. The fibre blend is 55% silk and 45% cashmere. She chose some of her most popular colorways for this yarn: Fossil, Shipwreck and Smoke (see below). The package also includes a notion surprise also provided by Sweet Fiber).
Purchase just this month’s package for $42 each or sign up for the entire six months. Give the shop a call for details or stop by. 703-664-0344.
Project Ideas
At 400 yards, one skein of this yarn will make a lovely shawlette or other basic accessory. Here are some project ideas: Just One of Those Things for a simple and stunning shawlette of luxury.
Try the Bristol Hat for something more basic and quick knitting. For the crocheters out there, I love Blue Lagoon for a shawlette option and our Malinka pattern for a slouchy hat (below).
About Sweet Fiber
You might know Sweet Fiber by their former name – Yarn Candy, which was opened in 2009. The dyer behind this company, Melissa Thomson, changed the name to Sweet Fiber in 2011 and now boasts a full time business, selling online and to a small group of yarn shops. You will find that the company is best known for its shades of grey. The yarn bases are natural and sourced locally in Canada as much as possible. Read more from the artist on her blog.
