The Celestarium knitalong is underway, and I have seen several started shawls in the works at the store. If you want to play along, there is still time!
I am now into Charts E. The shawl is divided into four sections now, and each section has a corresponding chart. Because most of the stitching is simple knits, it is going really fast:
If you are struggling with putting the beads onto the shawl, I recommend getting stiff dental floss instead of the smaller crochet hook. It comes in a package with so many that you can hand them out to all of your friends:
I recommend Oral B Superfloss!
The beads stay put on the thicker part and then when you need one, you feed it up from the thick part onto the thinner section, run the end of the floss through the stitch that you want the bead to be on and then put the end of the floss back up into the bead.
Slide the bead down over the floss and the stitch and you are done!
The floss allows you to load up 10-20 beads at a time, so that you don’t need to keep a dish of beads sitting around. This will make the project a bit more portable. No one needs to dump their beads on the metro or in a coffee shop 🙁
