Have you just spend the last two, three or more months stitching furiously for your friends and family? Well now that January is about here, it is time to take on a project that is just for you! The January stitch-a-long is Celestarium from the Winter 2012 Twist Collective.
I am obsessed with this shawl! I have no idea why. I am just smitten. That ever happen to you?
Project Details:
Shawl is worked from the center out, starting with a modified Ocher style cast on that we can help you with here at the shop. The author gives photo details as well. It is then entirely charted – charts that are almost all knit stitches! The charts indicate where the stars of the constellations fall. Each star is an eyelet accented with a bead.
Skills required:

if missing any of the stitches above, we can totally help. You just need to have experience knitting in the round.
Materials needed:
US#4 double points and several circular needles so that you can go to longer ones as the shawl grows. A good start would be a 16″ and 24″
Stitch markers
Size 6 seed beads
Dental floss threader or crochet hook for beading
1200 yards of fingering weight yarn. Most of you have this in your stash already! I finally selected Skein BFL sock but tossed around a few other ideas as well:
We will cast on tomorrow on New Year’s Day. The shop is open from 11 am – 7 pm so join us in the lounge! I will be happy to start the cast on for anyone that doesn’t even want to deal with it 😉 If you are joining in from afar, be sure to jump into our Ravelry board to stitch along.
What you win:
If you complete the project by January 31, you are entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate AND a box of chocolates from our neighbors at the Sugar Cube! (Just so that you get an extra treat for YOU). Bring your completed project to the store to show off or post your project link or photos in our Ravelry board.
