About the Book
In Knitting from the Center Out, Daniel Yuhas teaches knitters the fascinating technique of starting a project with just a few stitches and knitting outward, in revolutions (or circles). The book features 28 unique projects (ranging from baby blankets and lace shawls to sweaters and stuffed toys). I am very impressed with the illustration in the book! It would function as a wonderful technique or instructional book for knitters looked to expand their skills. There are illustrations on cast ons, bind offs, increases & decreases as well as any unique construction or techniques required for each project. Really very very well done.
Below are some of my favorites!
Lace and Loop Scarf
Yarn suggestion: For a fabric similar to that used in the pattern, try Rowan Revive (a yarn made of recycled material with a nice hemp or linen feel).
Sorting Hat
Just in time for Halloween! Yarn suggestion: Erika Knight Vintage Wool
Medallion Caps
Simple, elegant and gorgeous baby hat! Yarn suggestion: For a machine washable version, try Ella Rae Superwash Classic. For a woolly version similar to the original, Stonehedge Fiber Mill Shepherd’s Wool is soft and snuggly for baby.
Heel Up Socks
Ok, these are so uniquely constructed, that I am really considering casting on tonight!
Yarn: Zauberball Crazy!
Swoosh Socks
Throw on a pair of leather booties and rock a corduroy skirt with these awesome stockings. Yarn idea: Spud and Chloe Fine or Hazel Knits Artisan Sock.
Starfish
Done entirely without ever breaking the yarn! Yarn used: Spud & Chloe Sweater.
Isosceles Shawl
Stunning!! Yarn: this will be lovely in Neighborhood Fiber Co Loft.
Star Baby Blanket / Play Mat
This is the perfect baby gift! Yarn idea: Spud and Chloe Outer
