If you didn’t make it out on Sunday to our charity stitching even with Project Knitwell, no worries! We had a nice group and collected over 20 fall themed hats for babies in our area hospital NICUs.
We are still collecting hats! Donate hats to the shop until October 26th. Below are the guidelines…
How to contribute:
Yarn specifications:
Be sure to select yarn that is
- Washable and soft (No wool or animal fibers or yarns with bits that shed)
- Options available at fibre space™: Berroco Remix, Berroco Weekend, Rowan 4 ply, Berroco Weekend Chunky, Big Bamboo or Classic Elite Provence.
Pattern ideas:
We are looking for hats that are fall / pumpkin / leaf / acorn themed. Please select a pattern that does not have pom-poms or tassels, as they shed fibers dangerous in the incubator environment. Don’t worry if your skill level means you knit a rectangle and fold and seam it to make a hat– we can dress it up, and full-term babies get sick too! Here are some ideas (although you can make whatever else you find!)

About our partnership with Project Knitwell
We hope to bring more resources to the work of Project Knitwell while offering fibre space™ customers an opportunity to use their craft for the benefit of the community.
Project Knitwell is a non-profit organization bringing the joy of knitting to persons facing difficult situations. Most Project Knitwell participants are patients and/or family members who have spent a considerable amount of time in a local hospital. The fibre space™ community will support the work of Project Knitwell by contributing project kits and other supplies to the program, as well as hosting regular stitching and fundraising events to benefit the mission of the organization. Both Project Knitwell and fibre space™ look forward to developing this relationship and collaborating on many future activities.
