Knitting from the Center Out – Daniel Yuhas

Join us this Wednesday night from 6- 9 pm to meet the designer of the new book – Knitting from the Center Out. Be one of the first to grab this brand new book and view an amazing trunk show. (The official book release date isn’t until November 1!) *Reserve a book in advance by calling the shop at 703-664-0344. Cost is $27.50.

You can also join Daniel in a wonderful workshop to design your own shawl from the center out. Jump here for more details. The shop is open until 9 pm, and as always, our staff will be on site for knit and crochet help.

About the Book

In Knitting from the Center Out, Daniel Yuhas teaches knitters the fascinating technique of starting a project with just a few stitches and knitting outward, in revolutions (or circles). The book features 28 unique projects (ranging from baby blankets and lace shawls to sweaters and stuffed toys). I am very impressed with the illustration in the book! It would function as a wonderful technique or instructional book for knitters looked to expand their skills. There are illustrations on cast ons, bind offs, increases & decreases as well as any unique construction or techniques required for each project. Really very very well done.

Below are some of my favorites!

Lace and Loop Scarf

Yarn suggestion: For a fabric similar to that used in the pattern, try Rowan Revive (a yarn made of recycled material with a nice hemp or linen feel).

Medallion Caps

Simple, elegant and gorgeous baby hat! Yarn suggestion: For a machine washable version, try Ella Rae Superwash Classic. For a woolly version similar to the original, Stonehedge Fiber Mill Shepherd’s Wool is soft and snuggly for baby.
