Halloween on the brain

Halloween on the brain

I am the first to admit that Halloween is not my favorite holiday. It always brought so much pressure in college and now as a grown adult. It seems like I am always surrounded by folks who are more creative and can come up with costumes and party themes that are more interesting than anything that I ever come up with. At some point, I just gave up and declared that I don’t celebrate it and don’t wear costumes. That is easier. I never really like dressing in costumes anyway. (Does that make me strange?)

But this year, I am throwing a baby shower for a very very close friend, and it happens to coincide nicely with the holiday (and one that she really enjoys)…so a Halloween baby shower theme was born! Last night, I had a three or four hour power crafting session to make the invitations.

A tad on the creepy side, right? But I think it still works for baby…The text says, “A lil’ pumpkin is on its way.”  There was something really exciting about playing with glue and paper and embossing powder after spending so much time with wool. I actually feel more excited about returning to some unfinished projects in my stash and moving forward with my knitting, after having a real creative break with a traditional crafting project.

Now of course this theme also means a giant and possibly ridiculous knitting goal. I couldn’t possibly just put out pumpkins and some leaves and call it shower decor. Oh no. I am knitting at least a dozen little “things”…more on that in a few days…
