For me the reason to knit is SWEATERS! Okay, it’s not the only reason, but it’s definitely the primary reason. After all, what could be more comfortable and comforting to wear? Sweater designing and knitting is my ‘true love’ in the knitting realm, especially sweaters in solid colors, using smooth yarns and textures to create visual interest. I want to be pleased with every detail of a sweater when it is finished and I want that for you, too. In the time we spend together, I want you to know each step along the way in your journey of making a sweater that will enable you to LOVE that sweater when you put it on for the very first time. I find that to be such an exciting moment. As we set ourselves up for sweater success, I will cover a lot of bases and keep coming back to the combination of tips + techniques + good choices.
In addition to our sweaters being comfortable and comforting, I’m also really interested in our bodies feeling comfortable while we’re knitting, especially our hands, arms, shoulders, necks and backs. Coming from a long performance career in modern dance and 25 years of studying hands-on modalities means that when I teach knitting, I can’t refrain from peppering class with tidbits of information around alignment, awareness, body mechanics, subtle movement, and pressure points.
I look forward to meeting many of you at fibre space™. It is always a pleasure to be in the company of knitters! Please bring any current project with you and/or wear something you’ve knit if you’re in a class or dropping by for trunk show viewing.
See you soon! Ann
