Topsy Turvy twists my brain

Sally Rainey (of the Rainey Sisters) was in last week wearing her Topsy Turvy Cowl..and I have been looking for another cowl since I finished the Destroyed Cowl project earlier this month. The pattern is free on her site and while I thought it was going to be another quick and easy cowl, the cast on had me stumped. I have never done a Cat Bordhi moebius cast on. I was completely confused as to why this was being made so difficult. In my world, a moebius is when you cast on to work in the round and then add a half turn / twist before joining to work in the round. Well I have clearly been missing out on an entire world of mobius. Watch the video here…warning, it might make your head hurt.

So anyways, once I got it cast on, the pattern is easy peasy and it went along with me to a few “social outings” because I could knit on it while not looking at it, unlike the miserable argyle vest for my dad. I cast on 32 fewer stitches and worked only 1.5 repeats of the pattern. I had about a foot of yarn leftover. The cast off this morning was a little scary…I really didn’t think I was going to have enough. I skipped the I-cord cast off though to save on yarn. This one is done in Mad Tosh Worsted in the color Oak.
