The Fall in Love with Fiber workshop with Molly Miller was a big success yesterday. We met up at Hello Cupcake in Dupont Circle to learn new techniques for working with hand spun yarns. I brought the recycled sari silk that I bought a few months ago and haven’t been able to figure out what to do with it. Molly walked us through three different types of hand spun and a pattern technique to match each. It was wonderful! Everyone went home with three mini hanks that they had experimented with and one full hank to create a scarf. I brought home this fabulous purple hand spun with silk cocoons (seen here with the mini cupcakes that we were each able to sample. Yummy!!!) The silk cocoons are freaking out Phil but I really like it! I finished the scarf last night in under a hour and can’t wait for the weather to turn so that I can wear it with a nice brown or cream sweater.
I finally finished the new baby beanie and mini mitts designs and am working on writing up the pattern and having it put into a prettier format. Here is a photo of little Aelia wearing the larger beanie hat size. Isn’t she adorable!
