Time for another love note to a fibre alumn that is probably saving me from myself as you are reading this. Allow me to (re)introduce Kerry, fibre alum extraordinaire! Kerry brought her smile and sense of humor to our team a full decade ago, right before we moved to the shop’s current location. This timing turned out to be exceptional, as she was a huge part of orchestrating the move and providing critical input on the layout, setup, etc. Kerry is the ultimate problem-solver; she seems to possess experience and knowledge in every possible subject. If you present Kerry with an issue (of any variety), she will have five ideas, with detailed plans, in 30 minutes or less.

Kerry has come to our rescue on numerous occasions, whether it has been to cover a shift for a sick yarnista or to be a bouncer and people-handler during a massive event. Have a problem or need a hand? She’ll help if she’s able. Kerry also looks out for the well-being of the in-store team. Kerry has sort of adopted my retail staff as her own to keep safe, and is ready to throw herself in front of any stressful situation. Despite leaving the yarnista position many years ago, she brings kindness, compassion and energy to my team every time she comes through the door—and possibly also treats, hilarious stories, and offers to assist customers.

If you’ve been stitching along with our Escape from Sleeve Island Stitchalong you might be coming to the point in your pattern where it’s time to pick up stitches along your neckline. Here’s a quick tutorial and some tips to keep your sleeveless stitching sailing along! Note that sometimes your pattern will suggest picking up stitches every other row, or sometimes the ratio might change based on gauge to picking up 3 stitches every 4 or 5 rows, etc. #fssleeveisland26
