A second workhorse yarn to arrive from French yarn maker Fonty! Welcome Tartan 6. This aran-weight wool yarn is machine washable! Tartan 6 is a springy, lofty yarn that might look a little similar to De Rerum Natura Cyrano (they are made in the same mill)! But Tartan 6 is washable and has a nice spring to it that makes it perfect for winter accessories or even baby makes. Danielle just cast on the Walt Baby Blanket in it. Check it out on the Captain’s Log and learn more about the unique way this yarn is dyed that helps to conserve resources!

I am always looking for incredible workhorse yarns to fill our shelves and become dependable bases for many of your projects. In my hunt for a washable fingering weight “baby” yarn, Fonty of France had an amazing solution. Cocache is a fingering-weight Cotton and Cashmere blend that is washable! This yarn is a 7-ply “worsted-spun” yarn with a dense structure that offers stitch definition and drape. But, unlike many traditional all-cotton yarns, the addition of cashmere creates a light, soft, luxurious hand. The colors are deeply saturated with just a touch of luster, creating a truly luxurious yarn that is also washable and makes incredibly durable pieces for babies, children, and more.
Summer heat getting you down? Not sure what to do about icy cold offices and humid days? Dreaming of autumn and transitional pieces? Just tired of dealing with sleeves? Us too.
Join us for our Summer SAL starting on Friday, 7/3 where we bid farewell to sleeve island*, and focus on some of our favorite sleeveless garments! We’re looking at tanks and tees and vests and shells of all styles, none of them asking you to pick up for sleeves. Starting on July 3, and running through Labor Day, we’ll be working on our best sleeveless projects.
We’ve curated some of our favorite inspiration patterns to get you started. If you’re feeling ambitious, consider a lightweight shell for summer nights and a heavier vest for season transitions.
* “Sleeve island” is the whimsical term stitchers use to refer to the stage in sweater-making when you’ve finished the body, the only thing left is sleeves, and inertia sets in.
