Olga

Olga Buraya-Kefelian learned to knit from her mother at a very young age while growing up in Belarus. From her mother, a professional tailor, she acquired her understanding of clothing construction, which has progressively become more intuitive. This intuition helps her to create imaginative yet versatile knitwear. It wasn’t until her mid-twenties that her knitting developed beyond a hobby and into a career in knitwear design. She draws inspiration from industrial and architectural fields and a passion for European and Japanese design, balancing out a love for texture and minimalism. Her pattern range consistently implements technique-driven elements within each pattern for a greater learning experience and impeccably finished knitwear. Now the published author of several books on knitwear, Olga resides in Alexandria, Virginia, and she continues collaborations with numerous prominent yarn companies and magazines. You can find her teaching classes and workshops nationwide as well as internationally.
