Tunisian Crochet Clinic

Explore the magic of Tunisian crochet with this introductory class. Learn easy techniques to create a beautiful shawl with two pattern options: the Ada Shawl for a thicker, warmer design, or the Harmony Shawl, perfect for lighter, warmer-weather wear.

 Ada Shawl

 Skills needed

  • Chaining
  • Single crochet

Skills learned

  • Tunisian simple stitch (Tss), 
  • Increasing in Tss
  • Colorwork in Tss 
  • Adjusting tension for even edges

Materials

  • Aran- or bulky-weight yarn. We suggest Manos del Uruguay Cardo, De Rerum Natura Cyrano, or Woolfolk Luft
    • For Ada Shawl, you’ll need 2 colors. Color A: 215 yards; color B: 450 yards.
    • For Ada Shawl XL, you’ll need 3 colors. Color A: 200 yards, color B: 230 yards, color C: 330 yards. 
  • Size US N/10.00mm Tunisian crochet hook, with a 32-to-40-inch cable. (Note that hook size is a suggestion; you may want to size down to a US M/9.00mm depending on your gauge)
  • Scissors, darning needle
  • Locking stitch markers
  • A copy of Ada Shawl Pattern

Preparation

Read through the entire pattern. Select which size shawl you want to make. Bring all materials to class. 

 

Harmony Shawl
