Skill Builder: Crochet Pattern Reading

Learning to read crochet patterns with confidence opens the door to thousands of exciting creations. With this skill, you’ll never have to pass up something you love just because you struggle to follow the instructions. In this class, you’ll discover the special language and symbols used in crochet patterns so you can approach any project with ease.

1 two-hour session

Skills needed:

  • Chaining
  • Single crochet
  • Double crochet

Skills learned:

  • Understand the written language and structure of crochet patterns
  • Interpret crochet symbols and diagrams with ease
  • Gain the confidence to start any project, no matter the pattern format

Materials/Preparation:

  • Bring paper and pencil (or a device) for taking notes
  • If you have specific crochet patterns you’d like help understanding, bring them to class
  • Optional: bring a crochet hook and yarn if you want to follow along with examples
