Embroider your Holiday Knitting with Betz White: SU October 29

Embellish your hand knit gifts by adding embroidered details to sweaters and accessories. Learn basic embroidery stitches as well as tips and tricks for stitching on knits with tapestry wool or yarn from your own stash.

Homework:

Students will need to bring an 8” x 8” practice swatch plus an accessory, sweater, Christmas stocking or a second swatch to stitch on.

Supplies needed for class:

• Tapestry wool or stash yarn (sock weight or worsted)
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
• Optional but recommended: Iron-on transfer pen or Stitch n Rinse stabilizer
• Optional $10 Class kit (Transfer pen, stabilizer and needles) available for purchase in class

Betz White was born into a family of makers. Everything from knitting to macrame, sewing to embroidery, photography to screen printing, and any other crafty pastime was an everyday occurrence in the home Betz grew up in. Following her passion for textiles and design, Betz earned a degree in fashion and became a designer in the children’s apparel industry.
