Embroidered Wristwarmers Workshop with Betz White

Join the amazing Betz White to learn embroidery techniques to enhance your handknits. Create and embellish a cozy pair of wrist warmers with beautiful floral embroidery. Learn basic embroidery stitches and tips and tricks for stitching on knits with tapestry wool or yarn from your own stash.

Homework:

Students will need to prepare and bring two knit rectangles to class, each measuring 8” x 8” It’s more important to match the final measurement than to achieve gauge.
Gauge in stockinette: 12 st / 17 rows = 4” on US size 10.5 needle
Instructions: Using approximately 90 yards of bulky yarn, cast on 20 st, knit 5 rows 1×1 rib. Knit 25 rows in stockinette, cast off. Should measure approx. 6-7” wide, 7-8” wide. Knit a second rectangle to match the first.

 

Supplies needed for class:

  • Homework knitting
  • Tapestry wool or colorfast stash yarn (worsted or sock weight)
  • Scissors
  • Class kit (Pre-printed stabilizer, needle, practice scrap) provided to you as part of the class fee

Betz White was born into a family of makers. Everything from knitting to macrame, sewing to embroidery, photography to screen printing, and any other crafty pastime was an everyday occurrence in the home Betz grew up in. Following her passion for textiles and design, Betz earned a degree in fashion and became a designer in the children’s apparel industry.
