Beyond Basics: Granny Square Scarf

This class meets on ALL the following dates:

Craft a thick, cozy scarf using granny squares, a perfect project for beginning crocheters looking to get more comfortable with their skills. In this two-session class, you’ll learn basic granny square construction and useful finishing techniques to connect them, creating a stylish, warm accessory you’ll cherish.

 2 two-hour sessions

Skills needed

  • Chaining
  • Single crochet (sc)

Skills learned

  • Double crochet (dc)
  • Changing colors
  • Slip stitch join
  • Basic finishing

Materials

  • Approximately 440 yards of bulky yarn (4 different colors, 110 yards each). We recommend Manos del Uruguay Cardo, de Rerum Natura Cyrano, Spincycle Plump, or Woolfolk Luft
  • US K-10 (6.5mm) crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge
  • Locking stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle, measuring tape
  • A copy of the Retro Cardo Scarf pattern by Manos del Uruguay 

 Preparation

No preparation is necessary. Please bring all materials to the first class.
