A huge shipment of Neighborhood Fiber Company’s beloved Studio Sock has just landed! This lovely fingering weight yarn is available in the full range of saturated colors you know and love from NFC, as well as some brand new colors available just this winter. The 100% wool content takes dyer and NFC mastermind Karida’s colors brilliantly, and the subtle variations that add even more richness and depth are achieved through a kettle dyeing process.

As mentioned, Karida created four brand new, limited edition colorways that will only be available through March. Be sure to not miss these stunning colors while they’re still available! From left to right: Magnetic Midnight, Aurora Borealis, Pigtown, and Aurora Australis.

The tight twist of Studio Sock makes it perfect for its namesake: socks! While it’s ideal for socks (I’ve got a handful of Studio Sock pairs and I love them all!), it’s also fantastic for fingering weight sweaters, shawls, hats, baby items and so on. I have yet to find a project this yarn wouldn’t work for!
Yarn Details:
- 400 yards
- 100% superwash merino
- 26-28 stitches over 4” on a US 1-3 (2.25-3.25 mm)
- $25
Pattern Ideas:
Continuing with the theme of #selfishknitting, these projects would all make for stunning treats for yourself during this gray January!
I mentioned it was good for socks right? Corrine Walcher’s Nahanni socks feature a woven cable down the side of the foot that is reminiscent of the mountains the pattern is named after. The subtle variation found in the yarn would further highlight the cable, making every little mountain truly unique.

Ann Weaver and Neighborhood Fiber Co. go together like two peas in a pod, and Ann’s Monomania cardigan is a testament to that. This sweater is a graphic statement that manages to still fit beautifully into any wardrobe. Designed with elbow or three-quarter length sleeves, this lightweight cardigan will transition beautifully from spring into summer and then back into the cooler weather of fall. Go as subdued or wild as you want with your color selection because the results are sure to be spectacular!

One can never have too many chevrons! The Fixation Cowl, also by Ann Weaver, provides endless color combinations! You could easily go subtle and sophisticated with a handful of shades in the same color family or go wild and crazy by mixing a variety of colors or throwing in some of the limited edition variegated colorways. It’s a chance to just have fun!

Looking for a quick project just for you? The Lori Scarf by our very own Danielle pairs Studio Sock with either a coordinating or contrasting skein of Neighborhood Fiber Co. Loft, a laceweight mohair/silk blend. The contrast of the two weights and two very different textures makes for an interesting finished result while keeping the knitting simple and quick. The pattern is also available in print at the shop.
