Wool People 4

Wool People 4

The holidays have drawn to a close (did you finish all of your holiday knitting yet?), some of us have taken down our decorations, and it’s time for some selfish knitting!

The fine folks at Brooklyn Tweed have provided inspiration as always with the newest edition of Wool People, and now that we’re not all madly stitching away we can take a moment to sit back, relax, and peruse the gorgeous lookbook of patterns from a selection of guest designers. The physical patterns will be available in the shop in a couple of weeks but they are all available online right now!

With the unpredictable weather we’ve had of late, a shawl is a must-have for easy portable warmth! The clean textural lines of Thorn will show off your favorite color of Brooklyn Tweed Loft (there are 32 to choose from!) or perhaps a semi-solid hand-dyed fingering weight yarn.

Speaking of texture, how about the scrumptiously cabled Scrollwork hat and cowl set? You can knit both snuggly pieces in just 3 skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter or 410 yards of your favorite worsted weight yarn. (What, you haven’t learned to cable yet? Now’s a great time to pick up a new skill!)

Once you’ve got your cabling skills sharpened up, try tackling the Stranger cardigan – this gorgeous wrap sweater can be worn two different ways to give you twice as many looks! It will knit up warm and light in woolen-spun Shelter.

Is lace your thing? Light up the gray days of winter with the Lumen shawl – add a sparkle of beads if you like! Just two skeins of Loft or 540 yards of fingering weight yarn is all you need for this intermediate level pattern.

Gentlemen knitters, fear not, you can be as selfish as the rest of us and knit yourself a cozy cycling-inspired Chicane cardigan. (There’s a women’s version too!) The clean lines and clever ribbing promise to make this a classic you’ll wear again and again.
