Just Landed: Sea Change Montara Sock

Just Landed: Sea Change Montara Sock

Gorgeous colors? Sustainable natural fibers? Say no more, it’s another stunning yarn from Portland, Oregon hand dyer Sarah Pedersen of Sea Change Fibers!

Sarah calls Montara Sock “the sock yarn for those of us who want to skip the superwash – it’s the yarn that finally made a sock knitter out of me!” Spun from soft, sturdy Corriedale wool in natural heathered gray tones, with a bit of nylon added for extra durability, this smooth 4-ply yarn is a perfect base for Sarah’s rich colors with catchy names like “Au Naturel” and “Around the Mulberry Bush”.

Since the wool hasn’t been superwash treated, the wool fibers remain in their natural form. When wet blocked, the fibers expand and cling together as the yarn “blooms”, trapping air for extra warmth and giving a plush, coherent finish to your stitches. (This clingy quality makes Montara Sock excellent for colorwork as well!)
