Must Make Monday: Ballard Beanie

Must Make Monday: Ballard Beanie

Sari Nordlund is coming to visit, and I couldn’t be more excited! If, like me, you’ve been following Sari’s patterns for a while, you were probably equally stoked to see a brand-new hat pattern that matches the classic cables of the Ballard Sweater (also available as a tee or a vest). I am currently debating whether I can squeeze this project in before Sari arrives for her weekend of workshops here at fibre space.

The Ballard Beanie has a cozy brim (that can be knit either long or short), a cable pattern that extends all the way into the crown, and an easy-to-memorize cable repeat (making this a great project for beginners)! If you decide to knit this adorable hat, consider a matching collar to keep you cozy on extra chilly nights.

We think that Manchelopis by WoolDreamers will pair perfectly with the Ballard Beanie. The soft, lofty, unspun wool will give your hat a light fibre halo. Manchega sheep are cultivated for their milk, and you may be more familiar with the cheese we get from them! Manchego cheese must be made with 100% Manchega sheep’s milk, and that history is in each skein of yarn.
