Must Make Monday: Candyland in Ériu Elements

Must Make Monday: Candyland in Ériu Elements

Reminiscent of the winding paths of the children’s board game, the Candyland sweater is a sweet treat for a fall knitting project! Knit bottom up, first flat and then in the round, the unique cables meander over the pullover like a map. Candyland joins 19 other patterns only available in Olga Putano’s second book of patterns, Field Notes: 20 Textured Knits for Everyday Beauty. This book was just released, and the yarnistas have been ooh-ing and ahh-ing over these creative interpretations of classic shapes. Candyland is sure to be on our needles soon!

We think this pattern is a great match for one of our new yarns: Ériu Elements. (Click here for more about this incredible Irish company and the work they’re doing for the Irish Wool industry!) Elements is spun from Ériu’s signature blend of 75% Bluefaced Leicester for softness, drape, and luster and 15% Romney wool for structure and stitch definition. That combination will help keep Candyland’s cables distinct while maintaining the gentle drape of the pullover.

Any one of Ériu Elements 16 storied shades, rooted in the mystical terrain of Ireland, will show off Candyland’s cables beautifully. With its split high-low hem, Candyland will pair with leggings for cute and cozy lounging, or high-waisted pants and flats for a stylish but comfy ’fit for weekend journeys and explorations of your own!

Field Notes: 20 Textured Knits for Everyday Beauty by Olga Putano is available in-store and on our online capsule! Due to the unique nature of this yarn, Ériu Elements is not in our online shop, rather in our Alexandria store only.

Picture of Heather

Heather

A family friend taught Heather how to crochet when she was a child, and she taught herself how to knit about ten years later. She’s had a hook or needles in hand ever since. Heather makes whimsical amigurumi and blankets, but also makes socks, shawls, and sweaters to highlight gorgeous dyes and fibers. She’s excited to join the fibre space community and to help more folks tap into their creativity!
