Just Landed: Kelbourne Woolens Keystone

Just Landed: Kelbourne Woolens Keystone

This week, an exciting new yarn from favorites Kelbourne Woolens has joined our workhorse yarns at the shop. Please welcome Keystone, a brand new recycled acrylic-based yarn from the woman-owned operation of Kelbourne Woolens.
Kelbourne has been working to develop an easy-to-use acrylic-blended yarn that’s kind to the environment, and have achieved that goal with Keystone. Named for the stone at the summit of an arch, this yarn symbolizes Kelbourne Woolen’s mission to create accessible, sustainable, practical yarns.
Keystone is made in the USA, using a blend of dead-stock acrylic abandoned by a big box retailer and North American Wool. By blending the same study wool we love in Germantown with this acrylic, they can extend the use of the fibre, helping to reduce waste and maximize their supply chain. Kelbourne tells us: “By using surplus deadstock materials, we’re helping reduce waste in the textile industry and giving new life to existing resources.”
We’re all about sustainable fibers, and have some inspiration to help get you started.
