Shoreline Sport by Sea Change joined our lineup of yarns this Spring, and it quickly became a staff favorite! I recently picked up some to make the Valais Top by Skeinny Dipping and can’t wait to get swatching!
Why Shoreline Sport…
Shoreline Sport is 50% Shaniko wool (Merino/Rambouillet blend), 25% Silk, and 25% Linen. It will work up into a fabric that is a beautiful balance of softness, drape, and sheen. The Linen in the blend softens as you knit and wear it over time, and the combination of fibres means the yarn will keep its structure – your stitches will stay well defined! Stunning colors, incredible fibres, and a small woman-owned business dedicated to making change? Yes, please. If you haven’t come in and checked out Shoreline, you must come see this yarn for yourself!
About this design:
The Valais Top is a delightful cropped camisole, featuring eyelets and cables for a traditional knit texture on a modern silhouette. It is the perfect layering piece for warm weather. I’m slightly obsessed with the crisp cables, particularly the center cable that divides cleanly at the bottom of the V-neck and blends seamlessly into the neck edge. Shoreline is the perfect pairing, as the Shaniko blend of wool will keep these cables crisp, while the silk and linen will help temper the fabric for the warm spring and summer months. This camisole will be a superstar in my wardrobe, with three-season potential – easily layering under blazers for work or over jeans for a weekend brunch date.
