One of our favorite new warm-weather yarns this year is Pascuali’s Arctic Pearl. We’ve got one last order in the shop, and we think it will be absolutely stunning in their new design, the Ocean Dive Shawl. This pattern makes the ideal summer project – it only requires a few balls of yarn, and knit entirely in garter stitch, this project is the perfect pairing for poolside knitting, travel knitting, or just because you need something a little more mindless for the hottest days of summer.
Why Arctic Pearl…
Arctic Pearl is truly one-of-a-kind. This fingering weight yarn is made from Lyocell (Seacell), a sustainable, vegan fibre produced from brown seaweed and eucalyptus cellulose fibres. Available in Pascuali’s signature vivid colors, Arctic Pearl relaxes and drapes beautifully after blocking and washing due to the lyocell content. Lyocell is both moisture-regulating and temperature-regulating, great for layering or wearing alone, and especially for those “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity” days we have here in Alexandria. The fibre is also incredibly soft and smooth, which means Arctic Pearl is an excellent choice for makers (and wearers) with sensitive skin.
About this design:
The Ocean Dive Shawl is worked diagonally with a slightly asymmetrical shape. Sections in garter stitch alternate with stripes of varying widths in a simple eyelet pattern. As increases are worked only at one side of the shawl, the pattern appears diagonal. With its clear lines, this lightweight shawl is a versatile companion that goes just as well with jeans as it does with a dress!
