Must Make Monday: Idle Hands

Must Make Monday: Idle Hands

Texture is having a moment in the knitting world, and we’re here for it. Idle Hands is a cozy, oversized cardigan featuring textured yarn and linen stitch.  This stitch pattern results from slipping stitches, creating the illusion of plush woven fabric. The result is something delightfully cozy and durable, the perfect combination for the type of cardigan you want to slip on over every outfit. Made holding two strands of yarn together – a fingering weight and a bouncy bouclé – using US 10s, one can imagine the rows slipping by at speed. The boxy profile with elbow-length sleeves gives the type of silhouette that looks good at any length, from cropped to tunic. The simple stitch pattern and design make this the perfect project for sweater knitters of all abilities. This pattern will pair perfectly with Periwinkle Sheep Merino Flax Fingering and Merino Bouclé – pair the same shade for a subtle texture, or two similar shades for more of a tweedy/marled look. And what luck, these yarns will both be in the shop this weekend for our special Periwinkle Sheep Pop Up!
