Caitlin Hunter’s Wellerman Shawl is a design that keeps popping up in my feed again and again. There’s something about this shawl that’s always spoken to me. Maybe it’s the way the cables symmetrically trail down the back. Or maybe it’s the worsted weight yarn that makes the large version seem like a wearable blanket – supremely cozy. Caitlin Hunter takes much of her design inspiration from her surroundings, the wilds of Alaska and this shawl is no different – the branch like cables are reminiscent of the bare branches that dot a winter mountainside. The Wellerman, when I look at it, makes me feel like all I would need for a perfect winter afternoon is a hot cup of tea, my knitting, and to wrap myself in that shawl. And so, I might just have to cast it on – coming to a cozy couch near you soon(ish).
