The time has come to start casting on Rhinebeck sweaters. Whether you’re planning fall outings already, or just need a project while hiding from the heat, we’re featuring the new Community Cozy sweater for this week’s Must Make Monday.
Using WoolDreamers Manchelopis held double for DK, this sweater is a classic pullover, with an elegantly simple stitch pattern.
If it’s your first time using Manchelopis, this special yarn from the La Mancha region from Spain is a unique experience. Unspun pencil-roving is wound up into plates with two strands coming to DK weight, but you can use only one strand for a fingering. The resulting fabric is incredibly soft, and surprisingly strong.
Community Cozy is worked flat, then joined at the shoulders and seamed on the sides. The designer is also running a knit-a-long in the run up to Rhinebeck if you want to join.
