Every year Pantone Institute declares the color of the year. For 2023 that color is Viva Magenta 18-750, which they describe as “a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength.” It is a color of harmony and balance.

Magenta is a mixture of violet and red. Since our brains perceives different wavelengths of light as different colors (and magenta doesn’t have its own wavelength) there are those who argue that Magenta is a made up color that does not really exist.
For us, of course, magenta exists because we see it all over the shop right now from many of our amazing yarn vendors:
