WE HAVE CORMO!! We are so excited to welcome a new wool to space this week. Stone Wool Cormo is a gorgeous, American-raised Cormo wool that is springy, soft, and strong. Cormo is a finewool breed developed in Australia in the 1960s from Corriedale & Merino crosses. It is hands down one of the yarnista’s favorite wool breeds for hand knitting.
Stone Wool is based in Maine, and specializes in sourcing, spinning, and dying breed specific yarns all from the United States. Cormo comes from ranches in Montana and Wyoming, then dyed and spun in Maine. Their special spinning technique brings together the airiness of woolen spun yarn, with the strength of a worsted spin. This creates a yarn that is squishy, but tough enough for everyday wear.
We are loving the potential of using Cormo in all kinds of projects, especially for colorwork. Check out some of our pattern suggestions.
