The brilliant Cheryl Faust has done it again! We’re in love with her latest shawl design, “Promises in the Dark.” This stunning geometric design pairs the slow hue shifts of Spincycle Yarns Dream State with the subtle color flecks of Harrisville Designs nightshades or daylights. While the design looks complicated, the mosaic knitting technique is actually quite easy, as you are only knitting one color per row! This large, cozy shawl knits up quickly with 2 skeins of Dream State and 2 skeins of nightshades or daylights. To celebrate its release, “Promises in the Dark” is available on Ravelry for 20% off until the end of day on Tuesday, February 16.
Our yarnista Beth was one of the test knitters for this pattern! She knit hers in Dream State “Rusted Rainbow” and Harrisville Designs daylights “Bloodshot.” Daylights is the undyed partner of nightshades, featuring flecks of color on a natural background. From Beth:
“This was such an enjoyable knit! I loved watching the colors of the Dream State change as the mosaic design developed. This pattern has so many little details that make a polished finish knit – the cord edge, the perfectly mirrored mosaic design, and the textured border. Nightshades and Daylights are some of my favorite yarns for shawls and garments. The cormo wool makes a strong, sturdy fabric that is lightweight to wear. I’ll be living in my finished shawl during these cold temperatures!”
You can read more about her project on her Ravelry project page.
