Last summer, Olga designed this shawl in honor of our 10th birthday! Today this pattern is part of the Mason Dixon March Mayhem so be sure to go vote for it on March 19th. Koko means “here” in Japanese and was chosen by Olga to celebrate her local community space.
The dimensional textured fabric that makes up this entire rectangular design is both drapey and voluminous. The shifting slip stitch pattern combined with 3 colors of stripes turns this into a fun knit and enhances an unusual surface look. Trimmed with I-cord edges this pattern comes with three options – a scarf, and a small or a large wrap.
The pattern is available on Ravelry from Olga. The yarn used in this design is available here exclusively (in the US), and we have put it online for you for a limited time. Here are all the gorgeous colors it comes in. Shop the yarn here. De Rerum Natura Ulysse is a gorgeous sustainable produced wool that we import from its maker in France. The merino used to produce De Rerum Natura yarns is sourced from flocks in France and Portugal who spend the majority of their time outside in the fields of Provence, the southern French Alps, and the Aletenjo Valley in Portugal. The majority of the fibre comes from the “merino d’Arles” breed that originated in France in the 19th century. While these sheep produce extremely fine fleece, the animals are small and only produce around 2 kilograms (about 4.5 lbs) of fibre per year, making them that much more special. The remaining fibre comes from the “petra” black merino sheep of Portugal, which adds a lovely heathered finish to the final yarn when the white and black fibres are mixed together. De Rerum Natura yarns are spun semi-woolen.
