Meet “fibre space turns 10” – a limited edition color from Miss Babs Yarns! She’s dyed it on her Yummy 2-ply for our 10th birthday celebration this month. It is a lovely blue with deep speckles:
Miss Babs and fibre space:
In 2007 or 2008 (who remembers), I stumbled upon the Miss Babs booth at Stitches East in Baltimore. I was on the hunt for a large put up of worsted weight yarn for a design that I wanted to create as a teaching tool. At the time, I was working on a business plan for fibre space as well. I grabbed two skeins of Yowza and later designed Marilyn out of those two skeins of Yowza. I later offered it as a class through Knit-a-Gogo and then fibre space. Miss Babs herself was working the cash register when I checked out that day. I remember being impressed with her racks, each skein of yarn hanging from the metal rack. I asked her if she sold wholesale, and she handed me her card and told me to touch base another time. In 2008 or early 2009, I was able to touch base with Babs about carrying her yarn in my not yet opened shop. We had a long phone conversation, and I can still remember where I was when we first spoke. We both have a marketing background and spent a good chunk of our conversation discussing marketing strategies in the yarn world. I also know where I was when she called to ship the first order. Miss Babs was to be our first and only hand dye in the shop when we opened in July 2009. I am truly honored to be one of her few stockists. Babs is a bad ass. She knows what she’s doing. She is a class act. We owe a lot to Babs and her amazing team (which includes Veronica, our former assistant manager!)
We have 54 gorgeous skeins of this yarn. Grab it while it’s hot!
