Just landed in space, KnittinBro Yarns! We’re excited to work with Doug, the dyer and creator of KnittingBro Yarns, who is inspired by color and fiber and by his love of knitting. He dyes up kettles of bold, saturated colors in his home studio in Pennsylvania.
From Doug:
I started to experiment with yarn dyeing simply because I felt like there weren’t that many dyers that focus mainly on male knitters.
When I visited yarn stores, I always see knitters concerned with hand dyed yarn. They wish they could knit something for their husband, boyfriend or male relative but the yarn is not “mainly” or “it’s too bright, he won’t wear that!”
And that’s how KnittinBro Yarns was born.

Pattern Inspiration:
Thriambus by Rich Ensor
Rich, a longtime customer who has since moved to Florida, always brought in his inventive and inspiring sock patterns that are truly works of art. KnittinBro sock is the idea canvas for Thriambus, a free pattern featured in Knitty, with its intertwining thin cables reminiscent of Ancient Greece.
Eden Valley Shawl by Helen Stewart
Relaxed garter stitch and knot stitch details combine to make Eden Valley the perfect showcase for KnittinBro Sock’s solid, saturated color.
Sockhead Slouch by Kelly McClure
I keep coming back to this one–lightweight enough for spring and summer and comforting stockinette in the round makes this one of my favorites.
