We are blocking!

It is Tools Tuesday, and we are blocking!

We’ve finally reached the part of the year where it is time to start thinking about putting  your bulkier, warmer knits away for the hotter months ahead. Before storing your knits away for months – we recommend giving them a good spring cleaning. That means, washing, blocking and drying them!

For this task, we love The Laundress.

First step is to remove any stains that you have found on your garments with The Laundress Stain Solution. For any stain like lipstick on your shawl, a coffee spill down the front of a sweater or just plain mystery stains, The Laundress will help rescue your delicate knits! Just apply directly onto the stain then wash as usual. Or for more stubborn stains, drop the stain solution onto the stain and let it soak in cold water. 16 oz bottle $18

Second step is to give your pieces a good wash in The Laundress  Wool and Cashmere Shampoo. We love this soak in particular because of its cedar essential oil. Cedar is a known natural insect repellent so it is perfect to give your knits a bath in this to keep away yarn-loving pests. This wool shampoo also contains other essential oils such as sandalwood, orange and rose which moths hate. It’s really as easy as filling up a basin with cool water, follow the instructions on the back on how many capfuls to drop in and hand wash as usual. One bottle of this will get you up to 32 washes-that’s a lot of knits! 16 oa bottle: $16 2 oz bottle: $8

The final step before saying goodbye to your warm woolens until next season: spray them down with The Laundress Wool and Cashmere spray! This spray also uses the woody smell of cedar to keep away pests, it’ll also help to neutralize odors due to its antibacterial properties. This finishing touch will keep your woolens fresh and ready to throw on next autumn. 4 oz bottle: $10
