Living Coral – the color of the year

Living Coral – the color of the year

Pantone’s 2019 Color of the Year has been described as humanizing, warm, nourishing, uplifting, and vibrant. Living Coral, the light orange hue with gold undertones, is supposed to help us energize and remind us to connect outside the digital landscape that occupies most of our day. The maker community is all about connection, engagement, and color – and this vibrant selection by Pantone for 2019 will help us do exactly that.

Whether you want to embrace Living Coral for a sweater, use it as an accent in your color work (would be especially striking paired with grays), or create some lively winter accessories to brighten up a blustery day – we can help you make that happen.

For the Knitters:

For sweater lovers out there, Cala Luna would be stunning as either the showcase color of the main body, or the contrast yoke and sleeves. Pair it with grey, stormy blue, or pale green. For fair isle fans, the Driftless Mitts are just asking for a pop of bright color around the top. This would make an excellent project for anyone new to fair isle. If you’re looking to try a little brioche out in the new year, the Razorback Brioche Cowl would let your coral yarn shine – two color brioche is a particularly nice way to show off hand-dyed yarn against a more solid neutral. Anyone looking for a little cabling in their lives can craft an amazing Greystone hat from any worsted weight – the pale coral will show off your cables as you make your way around town.

For the Crocheters:

If you’re looking for a little texture in your life, the Feathers Hat has lovely ridges and shaping that almost mimic the structure of Coral and would be stunning in this color. This Winter Shawl looks like the perfect accessory for jaunting around town – use coral as the border accent or be bold and use it for the main color! These Chic Fingerless Gloves look perfect for running errands on the weekend or walking your dog – the thick fabric sure to keep your hands warm.
