Handmade Gift Guide – Mittens

Handmade Gift Guide – Mittens

The gift guide this week is focused on keeping fingers warm! Here’s my top picks for mitten projects this year, along with my recommended yarns:

1. Bella’s Mittens by Marielle Henault

These Twilight inspired mittens have inspired over 10,000 projects on Ravelry since the pattern was published ten years ago. This is still one my favorite patterns for gifting. I’d recommend the Norumbega yarn for a warm wool version.

2. Mīlēt by Ysolda Teague

If you are up for a color work project, this mitten design is one of my favorites. If I wasn’t seriously unable to finish two mittens, I’d already have a pair of my own. I recommend Brooklyn Tweed Peerie for the softest of mitts.

3. The World’s Simplest Mittens by tincanknits

We’ve certainly featured this pattern before. It’s just a wonderful go to for a basic mitten that shows off a lovely hand dye. And it is sized in a huge range of sizes for children and adults! Hazel Knits Cadence, the Fiberists Audubon Worsted or Neighborhood Fiber Co Studio Worsted would all be wonderful options for this pattern.

4. 21 Color Mitts by Virginia Sattler-Reimer

We have for adorable little kits for this project, which include the pattern. They make an impressive gift with all of the neat stripes, yet are simple to make.  Kits – $33.90 each.

5. 3 Hour Mittens by Jess Coppom

This free crochet pattern is a great last minute gift for mittens! We recommend using Mrs Moon Plump for this one.
