Greetings from space! Here’s what has been happening around the shop this week, as well as upcoming classes and events.

Upcoming Events!

Penny Post will be stopping by during Stitch in Space on Thursday, April 19th from 5 to 7pm to help us write letters to our friends and family during National Letter Writing Month.

The first annual Local Yarn Shop Day is on Saturday, April 21st! We wouldn’t be who we are without your support, so we will be serving up a tasty ice cream social with our friends from Nicecream from 12:30 – 2 pm.

Master weaver Liz Gipson will be in space on Friday, April 27th from 6-8pm for a book talk and trunk show. She will provide some insight into decorating your home with handwoven items, from picking yarns to designing and choosing the right patterns. All of her books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

Join us from May 3rd to May 6th for the annual Hazel Knits pop up shop! As always, we’ll have a huge selection of the popular Big Wheel in many bases and even more rich, beautiful colorways.

Save the date for the Stitcher Takeover of Port City Brew! We will be filling Port City Brewing Company’s Tasting Room from 6-8:30 pm, loaded up with our stitching, on Wednesday, May 16th. Can’t wait to see you there!

Coming Up In Our Classroom!

Treat yourself to a new skill this spring with our Introduction to Knitting or Introduction to Crochet classes!

Learn all the basics of bottom up sweater construction without the hassle of seaming in the Bottom Up Seamless Cardigan class starting on Sunday, April 15th. You’ll learn all about knitting set-in sleeves and inline pockets while creating a timeless cardigan that will be a staple in your closet. $80.

Learn how to make cute cables and bobbles while creating an adorably warm hat in the Cable and Bobble Hat class. Class begins on Wednesday, April 18th and will help you get a jump start on cooler weather knits for the fall. $65.

Knitting a spring tee is a great way to learn sweater construction, even as warmer weather approaches. You’ll learn all the basics while creating a lightweight, lacy tee in the Intro to Sweaters – Spring and Summer Top class starting on Thursday, April 19th. $80.

Master knitting in the round while learning the basics of cabling in the Introduction to Cables – Cowl class starting on Saturday, April 21st. $65.

Toe up socks are perfect for using up your entire skein. Learn this great technique by making a pair of thick worsted weight socks in the Beginner Socks from the Toe Up class starting on Sunday, April 22nd. $80.

Go deeper into knitting two color brioche with strategically placed increases and decreases, creating a very cool project like a pro, in the Advanced Brioche class starting on Sunday, April 22nd. $65.

The Cable Crash Course on Tuesday, April 24th is the perfect introduction to cabling that will have to stitching up a storm in no time. You’ll learn all the basics while working on a classic cabled scarf that is perfect as a gift to a special friend or to yourself. $50.

Up your crochet skill set by adding some height to your stitches. Learn some taller crochet stitches while practicing pattern reading in the Triangle and Trebles Cowl class starting on Tuesday, April 24th. $65.
