All this week we’ve been eagerly opening boxes to find all kinds of exciting new notions for the holidays we’re so excited to share with you. With a wealth of new tools to add to your collections, we are so happy to welcome Brooklyn Haberdashery, Cohana, and Akerworks products to our shop, and new items from shop favorites Cocoknits and ILoveHandles.
Among our new treasures, we’re happy to welcome Cohana project bags and notions to our shop. Named for Konohanasakuya-hime, the mythic Japanese blossom princess and worshipped as a goddess of Mt. Fuji, Cohana draws inspiration from the traditional colors that reflect the changing seasons. Each Cohana product is handmade by master craftsmen, with beautiful attention to detail and sourcing materials. We are so pleased to offer their canvas project bags and thread clips. The fabric for the canvas project bags and tool carriers is woven in Kansai, then dyed and sewn in Osaka. Treated with paraffin texture and comfort, the long tool bag comfortably fits up to three of the smaller tool carriers, which can easily hold a skein of yarn. Great for keeping skeins separate, or toting around drop spindles, these canvas bags are bright little treats. The tool bag is $100, and each plump bag is $28.
Thread clippers from Tokyo are individually crafted by artisans in the spirit of master scissor maker Shozaburo. Beautifully smooth and sharp, each pair of snips is wrapped in Iga braids, a traditional armor-making material. Bright silk thread fit gently in your hands, and each pair comes with a leather cover for the blades $45.
A lifelong creator and crafter, Kristin Axtman is the creative mind behind Brooklyn Haberdashery. With an eye for the whimsical and the functional, we have a selection of gorgeous new notions for you. Colorful pom pom stitch markers make sure you never lose your spot as you work, $11. Classic metal stitch markers arrive in a useful tin for easy storage ($7), or wrapped in buttery soft leather for $23. Elegant and practical, any of these would be a fantastic gift or addition to your collection.
While you’re in checking out all these new goodies, we also have an exciting new swatch gauge for you. With a unique 4 -inch cross measurement, each end of this gauge from Akerworks has a set of small teeth to firmly and gently hold your swatch in place while counting. Made of a durable plastic, this gauge is transparent enough to see stitches for confidence and accuracy as you count. Each arm has two measures: one side in whole inch increments with 1/4″ marks between, and the other side with whole centimeter marks. $17.50
For fans of Cocoknits they’ve redesigned their Maker’s Keeps for the holidays. Brand new colors, and individually packaged, this keepers have a strong magnet to hold their stitch counter as well as stray stitch markers and other notions that might slip away. $20
Finally, we are so excited to have our very own custom wrist rulers in space! Last year we debuted these gorgeous leather wrist rulers from ILoveHandles, and they’ve been favorites ever since. Engraved leather stylishly wraps around your wrist for quick measurements. Now we have the classic browns back in stock, and our bright shop orange. We can’t wait to wear ours everywhere this winter. $22
As always, your yarnistas are happy to help you find the perfect collection of notions, make recommendations, and assist you with all your needs. Happy Stitching!
